San Diego City College continues its academic excellence by extending services to many military installations. SDCC is a major provider of instruction for all branches of the military service at Corry Station in Pensacola, FL. Foreign students also benefit from our expert instructors. Graduates leave Corry Station prepared for instructing, troubleshooting, and calibrating technical equipment. Consistent outstanding ratings received by our instructors indicate the quality of service we provide.

San Diego City College provides instructional services for the following centers:

  • Center for Personnel Dominance (CPD)


  • Center for Naval Leadership (CNL)


  • Naval Surface Warfare Center (NWSC)

The courses include Journeyman Instructor Training ( JIT), Oxygen Equipment Cleaning and Calibration (O 2), and Shipboard Gauge Calibration Program Standards Maintenance (SGCP). The course content includes: Training future Instructors in the techniques and principles of instruction applicable to the formal school environment, the required cleaning, examination, calibration of pressure and flow equipment installed in an oil free oxygen pure environment, calibration of measuring devices, basic electricity and electronics, transformers, digital circuits, processors, fluid power safety, and basic electrical and electronic safety.

Our student through-put is approximately 402 students annually in the three courses of instruction. Two of the courses require the contractor to perform corrective and preventative equipment maintenance or observe the students’ performance of the maintenance safely and in accordance with applicable maintenance procedures. We maintained an outstanding safety record through continuous staff training, development and use of planned procedures, checklists, and policing the area for safety violations.

Journeyman Instructor Training (JIT)

Purpose

SDCC provides selected Navy, Marine Corps, US Air Force, US Army, DOD civilian, and other authorized personnel, including students of allied nations in the techniques and principles of instruction applicable to the formal school environment, (traditional or automated electronic). Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to deliver lectures employing recitation, questioning, self and group-paced methods of instruction, technology aids, and case study techniques. They will also be able to apply some motivational techniques to encourage learning.

 

Scope

Through group paced and self-paced modes of instruction students learn the basic principles of being an instructor. They are taught instructional methods, questioning techniques, counseling techniques, and principles of learning. Topics include communication techniques, learning objectives, instructional technology, case studies, motivation, audiovisual materials, discussion, learner presentations, classroom exercises, Computer-based training, and lecture.

Oxygen Equipment Cleaning and Calibration (O2)

Purpose

SDCC provides the Navy enlisted and Navy civilian personnel the knowledge and skills necessary to perform the required cleaning, examination, and calibration of pressure and flow equipment which is to be installed in an oil free, oxygen pure environment.

 

Scope

Students learn the proper and safe operations of an oxygen clean room, oxygen gauge cleaning equipment; calibration equipment, oxygen flow meter equipment, and oxygen clean instrument packaging. Lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on laboratories cover safety equipment and regulations; sample testing; preparation and evaluation of data for determining hydrocarbon impurities; operation of infrared spectrophotometer; and cleaning, calibrating, and packaging prepared oxygen system equipment.

Shipboard Gauge Calibration Program Standards Maintenance (SGCP)

Purpose

SDCC provides selected E-4 and above Navy personnel the knowledge and skills necessary to calibrate, trouble shoot and repair the Shipboard Gauge Calibration Program (SGCP) Standards at the journeyman level. Students shall be trained to perform duties at various Intermediate Maintenance Activities. Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to operate, troubleshoot, repair, and calibrate shipboard gauge calibration equipment.

 

Scope

Students are taught basic electricity and electronics, transformers, digital circuits and processing, and basic electrical/electronic safety. Graduates of this course will become familiar with all current shipboard gauge calibration testing equipment as well as the maintenance of this equipment. Lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on laboratories cover pressure, temperature, and mathematical concepts and principals; the operation and use of Instrolab 420 2B-13-15 Digital Temperature indicator, Rosemount 162CE PRT, King Nutronics 3689A precision pressure standard, Fluke 8810A digital multimeter, and Tektronic 2336 oscilloscope to repair and calibrate to selected standards; operation, repair, and calibration of the King Nutronics 3666 automatic pressure calibration system, Hutron tracker equipment, Datametrics 1127-2 portable gage calibration system, and King Nutronics 3604/3605 thermo units. This course also includes group-paced lectures and laboratories covering AC circuits, inductance and capacitance, basic transistors, solid state devices, power supplies, and basic digital principles.

Mr. Roland "Ron" Jaeh

Naval Technical Training Center (NTTC), Center for Information Dominance, Corry Station, FL

Ron joined SDCC in July 2001 after serving 39 years active duty with the U.S. Navy. He was an enlisted sailor for 10 years advancing to the rank of Senior Chief. He received his commission through the Navy’s Chief Warrant Officer Program, ultimately retiring as a “LDO” Captain. In his last assignment he served as Commanding Officer, Naval Air Technical Training Center, Pensacola, FL. Ron has over 15 years of Navy schoolhouse management experience and often says it is a “true honor and privilege to continue to work with our country’s most important asset – our men and women in uniform.” He is currently the Dean in Pensacola, FL, managing select schools at NATTC Pensacola and other schools at the Center for Information Dominance, Corry Station, Pensacola. He also manages Personal Financial Management (PFM) Training at NTTC Meridian, MS, CSFE Sheppard AFB, Wichita Falls, TX and Army PFM at Fort Bliss, El Paso, TX. Ron is a car enthusiast and his pride and joy is a pristine 1990 Nissan 300ZX that is a frequent winner at Gulf Coast Car Shows. He also enjoys physical training and has completed (6) 26.2 mile marathons. He is a Navy Master Training Specialist and holds a Bachelors Degree in Aviation Management. He is nearing completion of a Masters Degree in Business Administration.

Mr. Jere Dobson

Mr. Jere Dobson - Lead Instructor,
Center for Information Dominance (CCT), Corry Station, Pensacola, FL

Jere joined the SDCCD Team in March of 1997 as the Lead Instructor for Shipboard Gage Calibration Program Standards Maintenance Course (SGCP) and the Oxygen Cleaning and Calibration Course (O2). Originally from Maine, he grew up in the Pacific Northwest prior to joining the Navy in 1977. In 2000 he was assigned the additional duties as Lead Instructor for what today is Journey Instructor Training (JIT). Jere spends his off time pursuing his hobbies of hunting and carpentry with two of his three children.

Ms. Dixie Greenley

Ms. Dixie Greenley - Clerical Assistant
Naval Air Technical Training Center, Pensacola, FL

Dixie joined SDCC’s team in July 2001 as the Clerical Assistant for the Personal Financial Management Schools in Pensacola, FL. Since then she has helped to establish other PFM satellite sites in Meridian, MS, Wichita Falls, TX, San Diego, CA, and at the U.S. Army Base Fort Bliss, El Paso, TX where we teach PFM to soldiers and Army spouses. She is also a part-time Clerical Assistant at the Center for Information Dominance (Corry Station) in Pensacola, FL. Dixie attained her Bachelor of Music degree from Yankton College, located in Yankton, SD. Following her career of teaching music education in public schools, she proudly became a Navy wife for the next 20 years and learned how vital our military men and women are. Dixie has been the church organist and pianist for St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church since 1997 in Pensacola, FL. Her hobbies include playing the piano, checking out new restaurants, and craft shows. She is a physical fitness enthusiast and enjoys walking and physical fitness training.
