San Diego City College (SDCC) continues its academic excellence by extending services to many military installations. SDCC is a major provider of instruction for the military service at the Naval Technical Training Center (NTTC) in Meridian, Mississippi. Graduates leave NTTC Meridian prepared for assignments in one of the following jobs: Logistics Specialist (LS), Personnel Specialist (PS), Ships Serviceman (SH), or Yeoman (YN). Consistent outstanding ratings received by our instructors indicate the quality of service we provide.
Our student through-put is approximately 3,500 students annually in the six courses of instruction. SDCC personnel have responded to planned changes in Navy instruction. SDCC personnel have demonstrated that they can also respond quickly and effectively to emergency unplanned situations.
San Diego City College personnel have demonstrated their flexibility and dedication to the job in their response to two hurricanes since 2004. SDCC personnel were on the job and instruction commenced immediately. Because of the nature of the second disaster the Navy put an emergency hold on all transfers into the Gulf region. When the hold was lifted the command received 217 students in a six day period of time. Our personnel worked weekends in an attempt to get as many students through the pipeline as quickly as possible. San Diego City College staff has proven, without doubt, that they respond quickly and effectively to change and have a "can do" attitude that cannot be matched.
San Diego City College has repeatedly demonstrated our versatility and capability to meet the demands and needs of the Navy's changing training programs.
